Marston LaneBy Marston LaneMay 24, 2021No Comments3 Mins Read85 Views

Since decades, espresso has been the favorite of all in the non-filter coffee arena. Literally, the word espresso means ‘express’. In the Italian language, it means ‘pressed-out’.  The word became famous with the invention of coffee making machines by the Italian inventors as tasty instant coffee was prepared in few seconds. The coffee machine was used widely in every corner of the globe even then no one could beat the taste, texture and flavor of Italian espresso coffee.

Millions of chefs, coffee makers and coffee drinking enthusiasts seek to find out the origin of Italian espresso. Many bloggers providing real, researched information online have written about the famous coffee of Italy. The articles of theirs have been useful to know in detail about the tastefully flavored espresso. One such blogging site is myfriendscoffee. There you can Learn the history of espresso, about varied models of espresso machines, working reliability of other coffee making machines, reviews of various coffee beans, rating the coffee brands and of course provide tips to make the best coffee in multiple ways.

Now more about the interesting history of Italian espresso:

  • It all started in the era of Europe’s industrial revolution. The century witnessed the invention of the first coffee making accessories. It happened because for Italians coffee isn’t something to drink in a hot or cold mode. It is part of life as their day starts with coffee and ends with the coffee bean brew.
  • The first machine was invented by Luigi Bezzara in the year 1901. It was the first-time people tasted coffee prepared using machine. In few years time, the patent of it was purchased by Desidero Pavoni paved the way to make the first commercial coffee making machine, the ‘Ideale’.
  • Ideale produced coffee in forty-five seconds however it wasn’t like the espresso of today. It was just known as filter coffee prepared instantly.
  • The inventions of more machines led to the making of espresso coffee and the word espresso became a common name of coffee. The popularity of espresso gain momentum when in the mid of 19th century coffee houses were visited by the common man and the labor class. The taste of caffeine became quite popular and its fame started penetrating inside other country lands as well.
  • In the year 1947, the first glimpse of today’s espresso came into existence in the form of Crema. Gaggia invented a hand pump machine able to exert more pressure to make the coffee resulting in the formation of thick golden-brown foam on top of the espresso coffee mug.
  • In 1961 the popular coffee making machine, the ‘Faema E61’ stepped into the world of espresso. The machine is known to be the older version of today’s modern espresso. This semi-automatic machine provided new platform for espresso to become world’s famous brew.
  • The coffee is darker than the rest because the beans are roasted in Italian roasteries. Thus, the coffee has a distinct bitter taste that makes it a perfect refreshing drink.

Even today, espresso is part of Italian culture and present largely in every Italian’s life. Now, the beverage made by using quality coffee beans is made using variant recipes. All aren’t as popular as the Italian espresso.
