Your Ultimate Guide To The Most Aromatic Cup Of Coffee

Marston LaneBy Marston LaneJanuary 31, 2022No Comments3 Mins Read239 Views

Coffee is the most preferred pick-me-up beverage for people of all ages. If you need a quick caffeine fix, this read will help you make your homemade cup of coffee taste as good as the one at the barristers. Many people miss is the intricate details in every step of making coffee.

This read will help you perfect your art and give you the perfect flavor, taste and aroma in your next beverage.

  1. Use happy coffee beans

A refreshing mug of coffee begins with excellent coffee beans. Coffee beans differ in taste depending on the origin.

Coffee companies invest in refined coffee tasters who use their taste buds to grade the flavors. Coffee beans have a natural, earthy flavor. Similarly, they have natural sugars and eclectic flavors such as mango, cinnamon and pine.

To help your pick the best coffee beans, buy the packages labeled” specialty coffee.” The tag guarantees you a heavenly taste of coffee in your mug.

  1. Consider storage

Poorly stored coffee beans give a stale taste, aroma and flavor. You may buy the best coffee beans but lose the quality because of poor storage.  Appropriate storage maximizes the freshness of your beans. The rule of thumb in storage should always be; no air, no light, no heat. Therefore, invest in vacuum jars of varying sizes to help you portion freshly-roasted or specialty coffee.

Coffee beans retain their peak freshness for at least 30 days and lose flavor soon afterwards. Exposing coffee beans to heat breaks down the compounds fast, while air oxidizes, causing coffee to turn color. On the other hand, light speeds up the decay and decomposition process.

  1. Brew coffee intricately

Choose your coffee brewer wisely. A perfect mug of coffee is brewed as you wait.  A manual coffee maker is the most preferred method because you can control the cooking process.

Manually brewed coffee gives you control over several variables, such as the temperature and amount of water for a cup of coffee. Some preferred manual coffee makers are immersion brewers, pour-over brewers and AeroPress.

  1. Mind the ratios

The ratio of water to coffee is a critical factor in the quality of your coffee. Always use the appropriate amounts to balance flavor and strength of your beverage. A suitable strength is neither too strong nor too weak. On the other hand, the flavor should balance sweetness, bitterness and sourness.

  1. Check the grind size

The finer you grind, the beans the faster you tap your beverage, while course grinding takes longer to extract. You can choose to mix your homemade ground coffee with what you have bought from the shop; the combination helps to find the best grind size.

If you prefer pour-over brewing, you should adjust the grind size. Consequently, your water drain may increase or decrease. These adjustments affect your brew duration. For best results, change one thing at a time and rate the results.

  1. Use quality water

The quality of water you use in your coffee determines its taste. It can also alter the aroma and flavor of your cup.  You may need to filter hard water. Hard water means it has a lot of magnesium and calcium, making your coffee taste dull and lifeless. Filtered water has better-tasting coffee than tap water.

And while at it, mind the water temperature. The optimum brewing temperature range is 190 to 205 degrees. Temperatures above 205 degrees make the coffee bitter because the extraction process is rapid. Anything below 195 degrees makes coffee sour.

Good coffee is the art of balancing all the six factors above. Have a fantastic coffee brewing time!
