Build Muscle With Duck Meat – Know The Nutritional Values Of It

Duck is one of the commonly produced poultry throughout the world. It is the healthiest food highly rich in minerals, vitamins, protein and healthy fatty acids. You can try different type of mouth-watering recipes with duck meat, whole bird and other parts.

On Lac Brome Lake, you can find delicious duck recipe along with fresh duck meat. They provide a range of duck products including boneless duck breast, duck legs confit and more, at reasonable price.

Cooking duck breast

  • Duck breast (roasted) – 100g
  • Alfalfa – 10g
  • Coriander – 10g
  • Carrot (shredded) – 10g
  • White and red cabbage (shredded) – 160g
  • Hemp and sesame seeds – 1 teaspoon (each)

Dressing

  • Rice wine vinegar – 60ml
  • Olive oil – 15ml
  • Red chilli (diced) – 1
  • Brown sugar – 1tsp
  • Soy sauce – 125ml

Preparation

Mix all the shredded ingredients together and place it in a box. Lay duck breast over top and sprinkle seeds. Place it in your fridge and serve with dressing ingredients before eating it.

Nutritional facts of duck meat

Duck meat contains a lot of nutritional values including antioxidants, vitamins like vitamin B12, A, K and folate. Also, it is rich in protein contains 23% of DV (daily value)/ 3.5 ounces (100gm). Vitamins in duck skin and meat of 100gms are:

  • 7% vitamin K
  • 10% vitamin B5 (pantothenic acid)
  • 20% vitamin B3 (niacin)
  • 12% vitamin B3 (riboflavin)
  • 13% vitamin B1 (thiamin)
  • Duck meat has 39.3 gm fat with skin, if you remove the skin then there will be only 11.2 gm fat.

However, some nutritional values may decrease due to heat when cooking it. According to a study conducted in 2014, antioxidants in duck meat may increase after roasting it.

For people who want to build muscle and those on ketogenic or low carbohydrate diet duck meat is an ideal choice as it has high-fat content and good amount of protein.

A person who consumes 2,000 calorie diet is recommended totake nearly 13gm saturated fat per day. That is, consuming 100gm duck breast is essential to intake saturated fat. If you want to bring down the saturated fat have duck breast without skin.
